Crimeapple at Exit Saloon in Summit, IL 04/22

If you were tired of the cold and unending winter in Chicago, our boy (#S1AllStar) AM Early Morning (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIY-_OiponI) was heating things up in Summit, IL at Exit Saloon. In celebration of #EarthDay, or some other green holiday, a group of top-notch talent took the stage to predict the coming summer.

Bringing the heat from start to finish were:

Jaylin_Wade – entering the stage with a calm confidence, Jaylin delivers his verses with an ice cold staccato. The stage was his to command as we entered the night’s program.

Notable Jaylin_Wade verse ‘baby it’s a killer’s game I’m raised by the Razor, it’s sharp tongue passed down knive is rust passed out, no breakthroughs if you afraid to crash now.’

Svnto Pecvdo – high energy Mexican hip-hop group with roots in Chicago. Their energy and performance made up for my lack of understanding. I f(*& with them though. Great performance.

Jahmonte Ogbon – I knew this show was coming and Jahmonte actually hit our radar for season 1, we just ran out of space and time. I was excited to see him live after digging into his tracks on Spotify. The unique voice and meaningful lyrics translated well into his live performance. He entered the audience at one point, parting the sea of fans with lyrical style and grace. Jahmonte did not disappoint and kept the room nodding along with him throughout his entire set. He introduced Ganawae (@ganawaeeee on IG) into his set and he immediately made his presence felt…

Notable Ganawae verses ‘21 and still no tape yet, 21 and still no place yet, cracks and whips just might stay in debt’

Daniel Son – new to me, but rapping since the eighth grade, Daniel Son dates back to Division Rivals, his joint with former partner Saipher Soze. Even though he’s a Giants Fan (https://therealhip-hop.com/daniel-son-divizion-rivals/), he came out rocking the LEADRS New Era Bears Jacket, Nice Play! With a commanding, almost domineering stage vibe, Daniel Son stole the show. With early beginnings in text battles (keystyling) online and a family with music ties, he was destined for this. Lyrical mastery confirmed, industry domination loading.

AMEarlyMorning (featuring Nightwalker and Novatore 666) – The host of the evening mastered his emcee tasks and still laid down an impressive set, bringing Jaylin_Wade back to the stage for a shared feature. Then, commenced riling up the crowd for Night Walker and Novatore before announcing the headliner. Classic, energized set from the hardest working man in Chicago Rap.

Crimeapple – a long night of great performances led up to a grimy, low energy set by the one and only. After paying his respects to the acts before him and an intro set from Manteca, Crime came and laid it down.

Got The Potatoes, Our Man!

With an original location at Magoo’s in Bedford Park, the event rolled with the punches thrown by a location shift to Exit Saloon. Communication was good from the team and the word got spread to pack the place in Summit. The show was incredible, up and down the set list. The crowd could’ve brought more to the table, but when you’re working with emerging artists, sometimes it’s hard to get that ‘know every verse’ vibe. The performers managed their stage presence with confidence and veteran presence. I look forward to seeing what’s next from these performers and the promoter. An unbelievable deal for the cost of entry ($20?). You’ll hear all these names again in the near future and I encourage you to check out shows featuring the artists listed above.

If you were at the show or have a bead on any emerging artists, let us know. Happy Planting!
