Beats, Beds & Browns, The Region resource for all things hip-hop, gardening and brown spirits is scheduled to be at three upcoming Farmer’s Markets in East Chicago and Gary, IN. We’ll be there selling our remaining tomato, cucumber, acorn & spaghetti squash starts. The potted plants are currently ready to put in the ground and many of them are already flowering. Picture yourself sustaining your family from your very own vegetable garden.
If you’ve been hesitant to submit your gardening question, this is a great opportunity to speak with our team and/or submit your question. As always, you can submit your question on your social media of choice using our handle @beatsbedsbrowns. You can also register for your free seed kit at beatsbedsbrowns.com.
We’ll have acorn squash, carrot and dill seeds available for sale along with our internationally famous Beats, Beds & Browns stickers. We’ve currently filmed all of our Season 2 episodes and are currently in the process of editing them for a late summer launch. You can view all of our Season 1 interviews on @Youtube by searching Beats, Beds & Browns.
We’re also currently hard at work designing our merch which will include limited edition Beats, Beds & Browns t-shirts, garden tools and rolling trays.
We will be attending the following Markets as part of the Lake County Eats Local schedule:

Lake County Eats Local is a program of the SSNDC, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farmer’s Market Promotional Program to address access and availability of fresh and healthy food in East Chicago and Gary. Legacy Foundation and the SSNDC are collaborating with Purdue University Cooperative Extension of Lake County, the NWI Food Council, the City of Gary’s Department of Green Urbanism and Environmental Affairs, the City of East Chicago’s Departments of Parks and Recreation and Planning and Development.
This year’s line-up of markets will include the Gary locations at Methodist Hospital – Northlake Campus, Edgewater Health, Miller Market, Israel CME Church, and Market of Life at Oases Botanic Gardens. Our East Chicago site will be at St. Catherine’s Hospital.
Farmer’s Markets are the embodiment of community integration, local food, and seasonal traditions and often provide one of the least expensive sources of fruits, vegetables and meat, and offer some of the freshest options. Additionally, farmers markets are celebrated for being one of the best ways to contribute to the local economy by supporting farmers and food producers in the community. One little-known fact, though, is that Lake County Eats Local is one of the few market systems in the county that accepts Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
